PINK SUN
This piece was created immediately after Time Machine, during the scorching summer of 2024. I worked outdoors, under the uneven shade of a walnut tree, in the early morning hours, allowing the yellow and pink paper sheets to dry under the sun. My dog was always by my side, dozing at my feet.
I knew the colors of this piece, but not its composition. I was certain I wanted yellow and pink—the blinding light of summer, the glow of sunrise. Later, I chose an orange background to soften the coolness of the other two colors. I worked quickly, pasting everything down without focusing on composition. My intention was to create a dazzling mosaic of light.
The handmade paper plays a crucial role in bringing this piece to life. Each fragment, painted with acrylics, carries the texture and sensitivity of a raw, imperfect material. This aligns with my vision of portraying the sky as something both delicate and profound—a vast presence in constant flux, never still. The colors are not uniform but fluid, reflecting the transient and elusive beauty of the atmosphere.
This piece emerged from quiet contemplation of nature and a desire to capture the wonder of a fleeting moment. Pink Sun invites the viewer to pause, to appreciate the unnoticed details of everyday life. Ultimately, this work is a tribute to light, to color, and to the sky itself—a reminder of the serenity and poetry woven into the natural world around us.
